Scale should reduce the load on the CEO.
If every new dollar of revenue creates more confusion and more executive intervention, the company is growing, but it is not scaling.
I look for a different pattern. Managers make more decisions without waiting. The operating cadence exposes problems earlier. The numbers become trustworthy enough to act on. Complexity still grows, but the organization gets better at carrying it. Revenue tells you the company is larger. A lighter load on the CEO tells you the company is stronger.
